Announcing all this ♥♥♥♥ that they had to rush on, only to turn around and sliently cut half the work out because it was incomplete, then spore failed to sell fast enough for EA's liking thanks to the complaints of the missing content, so it died out and was forced to become a cult classic. Well, actually it was a lot because of Mr.big mouth (Will Wright) Who can't keep his ideas in check. It was this astonishing display of commercial incompetence that not only sealed the doom of Spore, but also made me question just how EA even manages to stay in the business. And when it eventually collapsed, their conclusion was basically: "Meh, this franchise just didn't have what it takes." They kept building onto a foundation that was fragile to begin with and already noticably cracking at that point. The big irony is that Spore could actually have survived and become fairly successful if EA had gone through with this! But instead they suddenly abandoned that plan and development on the main game in order to make a ton of spinoff games. EA thought they could handle it in the same way as The Sims barebones core game, fleshed out gradually through payed expansions (which back then weren't commonly downloadable or payable directly in-game, but sold on seperate disks, btw). Publicado originalmente por randomperson2013:Should it be under direct development the game will likely be riddled with micro transactions, chopped up DLC, lack of care or creativity and an overall mess of bugs. That was actually the main reasons why Spore was such a disappointment in the first place: The game wasn't anywhere near finished, just barely playable at the time of its release. I know this is really late to the RIP maxis party but i just wanted to say this eventually, even if it was late, and/or an obvious statement to some. Until EA changes (if they ever do before they ruin themselves) and shows that they can handle companies, games, and licences responsibly as they once did, this opinion of mine shall stand. I'd rather this title be left untainted with no sequel than a sequel only to muddy the name spore. Should it be under direct development the game will likely be riddled with micro transactions, chopped up DLC, lack of care or creativity and an overall mess of bugs. If left to EA alone, spore 2 might be outsourced at best and at worst be under one of its next victim dev teams in its long list of company absorbings (see every damn good company they have taken over, ♥♥♥♥ on their titles, and spat back out when the money was sucked dry). I am afraid enough for Battlefront 3 because EA has been milking and destroying their old titles. Recently Maxis was closed due to EA, and I know this news is late but i just want to say I hope I never see spore 2 without maxis running it because i do not trust (nor should anyone) EA with titles anymore. Maxis was the driving force of spore, the game that suffered overhype from a man who shall remain anonymous (though many know exactly who) and still became a classic. So I know many people will either rage at this title, question this title, but hopefully understand or will understand this title soon.
